<strong>CNATRA</strong>INST <strong>1542.123C</strong><br />

1. Advancing X. Completed event within the normal syllabus<br />

flow. Excludes events with last characters in the range 86-89.<br />

2. Aviation <strong>Training</strong> Jacket. The ATJ is the IUT’s training<br />

record. It contains ATFs/ITFs, calendar card, grade reports,<br />

and all other associated training information. It is filed in<br />

student control and follows the IUT through all phases <strong>of</strong><br />

training.<br />

3. Aviation <strong>Training</strong> Summary. A tabular sheet listing the<br />

Maneuver Item File (MIF) and maneuver grades within a training<br />

stage.<br />

4. Block <strong>of</strong> <strong>Training</strong>. A sequential series <strong>of</strong> lessons within a<br />

training stage sharing an identical MIF. The third character in<br />

the lesson designator identifies a block.<br />

5. Check Flight (XXX90). A flight check in any stage <strong>of</strong><br />

training.<br />

6. Contact. The stage <strong>of</strong> training that combines flight<br />

familiarization, radar intercept procedures, and visual<br />

navigation procedures.<br />

7. Course <strong>of</strong> <strong>Training</strong>. The entire program <strong>of</strong> preflight,<br />

flight, simulation, academics, and <strong>of</strong>ficer development conducted<br />

in all media during the programmed training days.<br />

8. Course <strong>Training</strong> Standard. A description <strong>of</strong> required<br />

behaviors and standards <strong>of</strong> performance for a specific maneuver.<br />

These standards are in Chapter IX.<br />

9. Courseware. The technical data, flight training<br />

instructions, audio, video, film, CAI, instructor guides,<br />

student study guides, and other training material developed to<br />

support and implement the syllabus <strong>of</strong> instruction.<br />

10. Critical Item. Any maneuver coded with a plus sign (+).<br />

This symbol indicates the maneuver is required and must be<br />

accomplished to the specified standard in that block <strong>of</strong><br />

training.<br />

11. Deliverables. A supplemental ITF generated by the TRB,<br />

which summarizes a specific IUT’s progress in a given syllabus<br />

and provides detailed information on the application <strong>of</strong> MNTS IUT<br />

training for that IUT. Deliverables indicate whether the<br />

quality and continuity <strong>of</strong> training provided was IAW <strong>CNATRA</strong>INST<br />

<strong>1542.123C</strong>, indicate the degree <strong>of</strong> influence by “human factors”<br />

on the IUT performance, and make a recommendation on<br />

elimination/retention based on those items.<br />

12. Emergency Procedure. Any degradation <strong>of</strong> aircraft systems or<br />

flight conditions requiring crew action or intervention.
