(e) The IUT should be able to demonstrate required<br />

levels <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>iciency without SI assistance. However,<br />

instruction is allowed on check flights, and IUTs may<br />

reaccomplish maneuvers at the SI’s discretion.<br />

(2) Incomplete Check Flight. The check flight shall be<br />

incomplete when:<br />

(a) Any critical (+) item was not flown, or<br />

(b) The SI was unable to sample sufficient examples<br />

<strong>of</strong> a given maneuver to assess the IUT’s overall performance.<br />

NOTE: The subsequent flight need only include<br />

maneuvers required to complete the check.<br />

(c) Exceptions. The check is complete and the<br />

overall grade is unsatisfactory if:<br />

1. Any critical item is below MIF, or<br />

2. More than two noncritical items were graded<br />

F/3 where G/4 is required, or<br />

3. Any maneuver is U/2.<br />

5. Special Instructions and Restrictions<br />

a. Schedule limitations for IUTs will be left to the<br />

discretion <strong>of</strong> the Instructor <strong>Training</strong> Unit (ITU) or cognizant<br />

squadron, but consistent with the provisions <strong>of</strong> OPNAVINST<br />

3710.7T.<br />

b. All IUT flights will be conducted in accordance with the<br />

current T-39 or T-45C NATOPS/Technical Orders, FTIs, and local<br />

SOPs, as applicable. No deviations from standard maneuvers are<br />

authorized except in cases <strong>of</strong> emergency.<br />

c. Completion <strong>of</strong> the NATOPS stage as described in this<br />

instruction meets the NATOPS qualification requirements for the<br />

specific aircraft.<br />

d. Reasonable accelerations and decelerations in the<br />

curriculum are authorized when warranted by previous experience<br />

or demonstrated ability. Accelerations <strong>of</strong> the curriculum<br />

require TRAWING commander approval and shall be annotated in<br />

writing in the Instructor <strong>Training</strong> Jacket.<br />
