3. Ground <strong>Training</strong> and Briefing Requirements<br />

a. Mission Preparation, Briefings, and Debriefings<br />

(1) End <strong>of</strong> Block Events. The SI shall carefully review<br />

the ATS in planning the EOB event to ensure the pr<strong>of</strong>ile includes<br />

opportunities to reach MIF on all critical items and optional<br />

items attempted in the block.<br />

(2) Preparation. The IUT shall arrive for each flight<br />

with:<br />

(a) Thorough knowledge <strong>of</strong>:<br />

1. The flight’s discuss items, as listed in<br />

Chapters III-VIII.<br />

2. Procedural knowledge <strong>of</strong> the critical items<br />

for the event’s training block.<br />

(b) A flight pr<strong>of</strong>ile tailored to training<br />

requirements, weak areas, and continuity.<br />

(c) The latest ATS for the stage.<br />

(3) Briefing. Monitor and critique the student’s brief,<br />

adding additional techniques and procedures, as required, while<br />

the student covers the mission’s:<br />

(a) Specific objectives.<br />

(b) Techniques and required procedures for<br />

accomplishing those objectives.<br />

(c) Planned pr<strong>of</strong>ile, contingencies, and Operational<br />

Risk Management (ORM) considerations.<br />

(4) Debriefing<br />

(a) After each event, the IUT shall evaluate and<br />

critique student performance based on the CTS. Additional<br />

techniques may be discussed.<br />

(b) After each event, the SI shall critique the<br />

IUT’s performance using cause/effect analysis, particularly with<br />

respect to the CTS.<br />

(c) The mission’s complexity and IUT’s progress will<br />

govern the time required for the debrief.<br />

(d) The SI shall provide the IUT with a new ATS, and<br />

may provide a copy <strong>of</strong> the event’s ITF.<br />
