2.3.1 Gauss’s theorem of Electric field
Gauss’s theorem relates the flux trough a closed surface S to the charge enclosed
by that surface [51].
φe = E · dA (2.6)
Studies on electromagnetism began after Faraday’s discovery of electromag-
netic induction in the year 1831, a phenomenon that was later theorized by Maxwell
in 1873 with the concept of fields [20]. The utilization of magnetic materials like iron,
hematite, magnetite etc have been done for centuries. We all know about the navi-
gation compass. Gilbert considered earth as a giant magnet to explain the compass.
Magnetic Field is denoted by two vectors magnetic field strength B unit ( A /m)
and magnetic flux density H unit ( W b/ m 2). The flux density and magnetic field
strength are related by permeability of the material(µ) . The relation is shown in the
following equation
and
Where, µ0 = 4π × 10 −7 H/m.
B = µ H (2.7)
µ = µ0µr
