I called his office after talking to superintendents and supervisors, and one call to his office and Chris made it right. The officer who called to tell me to pound sand called me back and said, “What can I do for you?” I don’t care what’s written about him. He took care of the problem. This police department is a joke. Dear Frank: I recently dropped into the historic Khyber Building on the barely beating heart of downtown’s main drag, Barrington Street. Sadly, the landmark Khyber has a very neglectful owner, the Halifax Regional Municipality. To its everlasting shame, HRM is letting this majestic property fade into ruin. For the first time that I can recall, in over 15 years of visits, I caught whiff of the noticeable smell of mould on the main staircase. The 1888 treasure was designed by Henry Busch, the Hamburg-born architect who was also behind the newly restored and glorious Public Gardens bandstand. AF-COOP: take two!
