Country Garden Roses. Is There A Rose With Your Name On It ? CHERIE (Floribunda Rose) Good dark red bedding roses are hard to come by but this little beauty fits the bill. Dark red velvety blooms throughout the summer until the first frosts. The blooms hold their colour well and don't fade in the sun, and are not damaged by rain. Excellent healthy leathery foliage with good disease resistance. An easy to grow variety with a distinct spicy fragrance. For the best colour show plant in full sun and dead head regularly to promote quicker re-blooming. Highly recommended. Also known as 'Red Abundance' and 'Songs Of Praise' Bred by Harkness. UK CHLOE (Renaissance Rose) A stunning Renaissance rose from Denmark with large very double blooms of blush pink. A robust and healthy rose that flowers continuously throughout the summer and well into autumn. Healthy dark green foliage. As we have said before we are great admirers of this group of roses as they are so reliable, healthy, and the majority have a superb fragrance. A delicious rich perfume. Highly recommended. Also known as 'Nadia' CHRIS (Climbing Rose) This vigorous healthy climber has buds of a hybrid tea appearance. The handsome blooms have orange red shading on the outer petals and the open to huge rich yellow flowers reminiscent of the English style. Plenty of blooms from top to bottom and flowers all season until the first frosts. Medium sized healthy light green foliage. A useful climber that is ideal for arches, pergola's etc. Can also be grown as a large shrub if pruned correctly. One of our favourite climbers. A very desirable climber with a pleasant perfume. CHRIS (Chris Beardshaw) (Hybrid Tea) A lovely new Hybrid Tea rose with huge soft pink blooms which occur singly or sometimes in trusses. Very prolific for a HT and always seemed to be in flower. Clothed in mid green foliage and will perform best in a sunny position. Seems a healthy variety and so far appears to be disease resistant. Delightful sherbet sweet scent. Named after the TV gardening guru Chris Beardshaw. Bred in the USA 2002 and introduced to the UK in 2007 CHRISTOPHER (Hybrid Tea Rose) A stunning Hybrid Tea rose to add to our Personalised section. Well formed blooms of bright red set against dark green glossy foliage which is pretty disease resistant. An upright and compact habit. Flowers right through from early summer to the first frosts almost without a break. Not very tall for an HT so will be quite happy in a bed or container. Good bright red Hts are in fairly short supply so this one will be pretty popular. Scented. CHRISTINA (Bella Christina) (Floribunda Rose) Quite a large floribunda that really stands out in the garden. Masses of dark red high centred blooms all summer long until the first frosts. A bushy plant with large dark green glossy foliage which is extremely healthy and disease resistant. A real exhibition rose that’s need to be planted in full sun to obtain the best colour. Dead head on a regular basis to promote quicker re-blooming. An excellent rose for cutting. Bred by G Mander. Canada. Royal National Rose Society Trial Ground Certificate. 1985 Rose Of The year 1987 Royal Horticultural Society Award Of Garden Merit 1993 Also known as 'Royal William' 'Fragrant Charm' CHRISTIAN (Christian Dior) (Hybrid Tea Rose) What a beauty this rose is, one of the finest red roses around. Named for the Parisian fashion designer, the large, well formed, bright crimson, double blooms of this rose have a lighter underside and a high centred and pointed shape, although some open out into a cupped form. The exhibition standard blooms flower with great freedom, and these displays are repeated throughout the summer. It makes a bushy plant with leathery, glossy green foliage. Quite a good health record but can be subject to a little powdery mildew, but can be kept under control quite easily. With its long stems it makes an excellent rose for cutting. A real eye catcher in any garden. Subtle but lovely fragrance. AWARDS Geneva Gold Medal. 1958 All American Rose Selection. 1962 CLAIR (Renaissance Rose) A new addition to the very popular Renaissance collection. A very beautiful rose with large blooms of soft pink-peach which hold their colour and shape in all weathers. An erect healthy rose with excellent disease resistance. As usual with this group there are plenty of blooms over a long period plus a superb perfume. The good long stems make this a very nice rose for cutting. Also known as "Lilliana" CLAIRE (Claire Austin) (English Rose. David Austin) There is something a little special about white roses - they are all purity and light - and yet really good white roses are rare among English Roses and indeed all other groups of roses. 'Claire Austin' bears pleasingly cupped buds of pale lemon shade which gradually open to form large, creamy-white flowers of typical English Musk delicacy ; their petals are perfectly arranged in concentric circles, with a few more loosely arranged in the centre. They have a strong fragrance based on myrrh with dashes of meadowsweet, vanilla and heliotrope. It forms an elegant, arching shrub with plentiful, medium green foliage. It is a strong and particularly healthy rose. Undoubtedly the finest white English rose to date. Can also be grown as a short climber to around 8ft. Claire Austin is David Austin's daughter. CLAIRE (Claire Rose) (English Rose. David Austin) Large soft pink to blush white flowers adorn a bush with pale green foliage.
