Country Garden Roses. Is There A Rose With Your Name On It ?
SALLY (Sally Holmes) (Shrub Rose)
This award winning rose is one our favourite shrub roses.
Exceptionally large trusses of beautiful buff to ivory blooms with silvery pink edging.
This rose is easily recognisable by its spikes of five petalled flowers thickly clustered on lofty
stems. There can be few lovelier sights on a calm summers day, especially when viewed against
a dark background.
A tall commanding plant with dark glossy leaves which can reach 5 or 6ft.
Should be planted out of the wind as the long stems can thrash around and become damaged.
A delightful and unusual shrub with a good long flowering period and very healthy.
Good perfume. Highly Recommended.
SALLY (Sally’s Rose) (Hybrid Tea Rose)
A very appealing rose with lovely blooms of creamy pink with apricot tints.
Beautifully shaped classic hybrid tea blooms which really take the eye.
Short bushy habit with most unusual young reddish foliage which turns to dark glossy green as
it matures.
Repeat flowering is excellent, so dead head regularly to promote further blooms quicker.
A good healthy little hybrid tea and good disease resistance.
Scented.
Named by the breeder to celebrate his daughters 21st birthday.
Glasgow Fragrance Award 1997
Bred by Roger Pawsey. 1994
SALLY (Simply Sally) (Shrub Rose)
Not a very well known little rose, but now it has been given Gold Standard status the public will
be seeing a whole lot more of this very pretty rose.
Not very big, but makes up for it with its startling and prolific blooms.
Masses of blooms cover this compact and neat little bush from early summer until the first autumn
frosts.
Pretty blooms of light pink with a white centre and an attractive golden stamen. Harkness
Roses who bred this little stunner call the colour 'Apple Blossom' .
The single flowers bloom in flushes through the season and repeat quite quickly which makes it
always appear to be in flower. The foliage is semi glossy medium green and very healthy and disease resistant.
Can be grown in the garden or container. Slightly scented. Highly recommended.
GOLD STANDARD AWARD WINNER 2009
SAM (Here’s Sam) (Hybrid Tea)
This American bred rose is a tall stately rose that really commands your attention in the
garden.
Towering above all the other roses, the tall upright stems produce exhibition quality blooms of
luminous pink. A great rose for the back of the border which produces blooms all season.
The dark green foliage is healthy with good disease resistance.
Not a powerful fragrance as one would expect from such a big rose.
but very pleasant and pleasing to the senses.
Not very well known as a garden rose but has had considerable success on the show bench.
The long stems and quality blooms are a lovely rose for cutting.
Bred in the USA by E Edwards who named the rose after his father Sam Edwards.
