VIOLET (Violet Blue) (Rambler Rose)
A very popular vigorous rambler which is almost thornless.
Pretty blooms of violet streaked with white fading to grey in large clusters and show prominent
yellow stamens.
A lovely sight in full bloom in the summer and flowers a little earlier than most ramblers.
Pale green pointed foliage which is fairly disease free.
Very useful as it will also grow on a North wall or up through a tree.
This is the best known of the three similar violet-purple ramblers, the others being 'Rose Marie Viaud'
and 'Violette'. Scented.

VIOLETTE (Rambling Rose)
This lovely old rambler is a wonderfully free growing rose and is one of our favourite ramblers.
The flowers have two rows of deep violet petals that are quite showy and are produced in
clusters.
The small flowers appear abundantly in the first flush of bloom but does not flower again,
as it concentrates on its growth for the next year.
It is a healthy vigorous grower and can put on 10-15ft of growth in its first season.
Once established the long canes should be trained horizontally for the best quality blooms
and the most pleasing affect.
Healthy light green foliage, and very few thorns.
A great rose for trellis work or training on walls.
A very attractive rose with a pleasant scent. Bred in France. 1921.
WALTER (Uncle Walter) (Hybrid Tea Rose)
The flowers of this variety are crimson scarlet, high centred and fairly large, with about 30 wide
petals, and open rather loosely on very tall stems.
They are often carried in open clusters, and the overall effect is more like a big shrub than a
large flowered bush.
Flowers well and the continuity of bloom is maintained through summer and autumn.
'Uncle Walter' needs carefully placing or it will dominate its neighbours; towards the back of a
border is a suitable place, or it could be treated as a short climber and grown on a support.
It grows very vigorously with a tall, free branching habit to well above average height.
The leaves are large, crimson when young, then maturing to bronze green, and plentiful.
A very healthy rose with a pleasant perfume.
The breeder Sam McGredy named this rose after his uncle, Walter Johnston, who looked after the nursery during his
infancy.

WALTER (Sir Walter Raleigh) (English Rose. David Austin)
Rich crimson pink blooms when fully open show golden stamens in the centre.
The elegant blooms are borne singly with a good repeat flowering cycle.
Dark green semi-glossy foliage which has good disease resistance.
The growth is strong and bushy with large leaves in proportion with the flowers.
Rather like a Tree Peony.
Superb Fragrance.
