Country Garden Roses. Is There A Rose With Your Name On It ? PIERRE (Mme Pierre Oger) (Shrub Rose) Its porcelain like blooms have made this one of the most popular of the Old Garden Roses. The blush, creamy white blooms, with a lilac reverse, are cupped and loose and have dappled petals, and an old fashioned. The colours intensify in the sun. It has a long blooming season that extends from spring to the first frost. Narrow, upright branches support the heavy delicately scented blooms. The abundant, light green leaves are oval, and pointed, and dark prickles line the stalks. This is an ideal candidate for the back of the border. Can be grown as a short climber with a little support. A good clean rose but plant in good rich soil to get the best results. Discovered by French nurseryman Pierre Oger and named for his wife. PIERRE (Pierre De Ronsard) (Climbing Rose) A perpetually flowering climbing rose of the 'old fashioned' style. Creamy white double blooms are suffused with shades of pink and fade to light green, with lavender pink at the base of the petals. Dark green glossy foliage. Needs a little time to become established, so you need to be patient but well worth the wait. Good disease resistance. Scented. Bred in France before 1985 and introduced during 1985. Named after Pierre De Ronsard the late French poet who was known by his generation as "The Prince of poets" 1524 - 1585. For further information see 'Wikipedia' Also known as 'Eden Rose 88' 'Pierre De Ronsard' was voted the World's Favourite Rose by the World Federation Of Rose Societies. The Federation also entered the rose into the Society's Rose Hall Of Fame in 2006 an honour shared with just 13 other roses. POLLY (Pretty Polly) (Patio Rose) This beautiful little rose is covered in bright cardinal pink flowers in clusters. Flowers all summer long and well into autumn and unaffected by bad weather. To keep a continuous flow of blooms all summer the spent blooms should be removed regularly. A heathy little rose with compact growth and glossy dark green, disease free foliage. Plant this little cracker in a small bed, front of the border, or in a container. Could also be grown as a small hedge. Scented.. Also known as 'Pink Symphony'. PRIMROSE (Primrose Rose) (Shrub Rose) Pretty little flowers of soft yellow carried on arching branches. The flowers are only slightly fragrant but the glossy ferny foliage exudes a distinct smell of incense. The foliage is especially fragrant after a rain shower, or when the leaves are crushed in the hand. Spring and summer flowering with attractive reddish brown hips in the autumn. One of the first roses to flower in the spring. In Latin, (primula) means "little first one" An unusual and graceful rose worthy of a place in any rose garden. Also known as the "Incense Rose" & 'Rosa Primula' Royal Horticultural Society Award Of Garden Merit. PRINCESS (Hybrid Tea Rose) A stunning new hybrid tea which a superb sport of the popular ‘Buxom Beauty’ but a more subtle colour. Large impressive blooms of mid pink with a silver reverse. A real head turner in the garden. The young sturdy red foliage turns to a dark green as the plant matures. Repeats well through the season and has excellent disease resistance. Country Garden Roses. Is There A Rose With Your Name On It ? RACHEL (Hybrid Tea Rose) A superb and very popular rose. A gorgeous confection of cream, pink and peach. When the frilly blooms are fully open they have a lovely old fashioned look and resemble a carnation. There are more blooms on this rose than the average HT. Flowers from early summer right through until the autumn or the first frost. Makes quite a statement in the garden and very eye catching. Named after the popular TV personality Rachel De Thame. Sweet perfume. Also known as "Fox Trot" GOLD STANDARD AWARD WINNER 2006 RAY (Ray Of Hope) (Floribunda) A very lovely rose with lots of semi double blooms of sparkling bright red. Seems to have flowers all through the season, and so far we have found no disease problem. Plenty of blooms produced so spent blooms should be removed as often as possible to promote further blooms Dark green healthy foliage. Sold in aid of the Leukaemia research Fund. Scented. RAY (Ray Of Sunshine) (Floribunda Rose) Masses of small bright yellow blooms in large clusters The blooms are carried in small clusters of 3-9 with each bloom having 15 petals. Plenty of blooms are produced so regular dead heading is advisable to promote new blooms. Neat bushy growth with good disease resistance. A cheerful little rose that will brighten up any garden or patio. Not very big so will be happy in the garden or a container. You could even try a hanging basket providing great care is taken to ensure it does not dry out. Scented. Also known as "Arthritis Rose" RAYMOND (Raymond Blanc) (Shrub Rose) A bushy grower producing and array of blooms of rich glowing cerise pink. The flowers are densely petalled in the old fashioned style and flower freely all season. Very attractive and healthy with good disease resistance. Plant in a sunny spot for the best results. Dead head regularly to speed up re-blooming. Almond scented. Named after the world famous celebrity chef. REBECCA (Rebecca Mary) (Floribunda) A lovely new floribunda from Dickson Nurseries in Northern Ireland who are the world's oldest rose breeding company. A very prolific flowerer, this lovely rose produces masses of beautiful peach-gold blooms in clusters right through the season until the first frosts. Light to mid green glossy foliage compliment the blooms perfectly. A vigorous and healthy roses which is one of the most highly rated floribundas in years. Dead head regularly to speed up the re-blooming. Sweet to spicy fragrance. Can be grown in the garden or container. The rose was named by Dr Nick Harris to celebrate his wife’s 40th birthday.
