Country Garden Roses. Is There A Rose With Your Name On It ?
JESSICA (Pretty Jessica) (English Rose. David Austin)
This lovely compact shrub has small warm pink blooms which hold their colour and form well in
any weather.
Mid green foliage.
An ideal English Rose for the smaller garden.
Flowers repeatedly through the season until the first frosts.
Like most of the English roses it has a lovely Old Garden Rose Scent.
Pretty Jessica was Shylock's daughter in The Merchant Of Venice.
JOCK (Wee Jock) (Patio Rose)
The pointed buds on this little patio open to deep crimson-red flowers in small clusters.
Always seems to be in flower and has small glossy green foliage which is healthy and easy to
maintain.
Looks great when planted in a block in the garden.
Can be grown in a container, or even a hanging basket if care is taken not to let it dry out.
Plenty of blooms are produced so dead heading should be done regularly.
Scented.
JOEY (Just Joey) (Hybrid Tea Rose)
This beautiful award winning rose has been popular for over thirty years and will stay that way
for many years to come. It has big, loose double flowers that are an orange blend, usually in
small clusters.
They are well recommended for cutting as the blooms last well in water and are quite a show
on display in the home.
They have a good long flowering period and will keep on flowering as long as dead heading is
done regularly.
The bush is sprawling and grows to medium height, while the leaves are dark green and
healthy.
Makes an excellent bedding rose .
It is hard to compare 'Just Joey' with other large flowered roses, as the richness of the flower and the looseness of the
form make it so exciting and unusual. Not a powerful perfume but very distinct and pleasing.
AWARDS
Royal National Rose Society James Mason Gold Medal 1986
Royal Horticultural Society Award Of Garden Merit 1993
'Just Joey' was voted the World's Favourite Rose in 1994 by the World Federation Of Rose Societies. The Federation
also entered the rose into the Society's Rose Hall Of Fame, an honour shared with just 13 other roses.
JOHN (Glory John) (Climbing Rose)
An old rose of yesteryear and a world wide favourite for over 150 years.
Fat squat buds open to reveal large globular blooms in shades of buff yellow with hints of
pink and gold.
Blooms from summer until the first frosts and is absolutely beautiful in full flower.
This vigorous climber is best on a wall or pillar and will produce more blooms if the
branches are bent to the horizontal position.
Reasonably healthy but may need spraying in some areas to keep it clean.
Best in a warm spot .
Fragrant,
Also known as 'Glorie De Dijon' & 'Old Glory'
