DRINKABILITY INDEX
This is intended as a guideline for you, our customer.
The index reflects the collective view of our purchasing
panel. The length of time to cellar wines is a very subjective
decision and will depend on individual preferences, cellar
temperature, storage conditions etc.
1
2 DRINK
3 HOLD:
DRINK NOW: Enjoy and drink. There is no benefit
to cellaring.
OR HOLD: Can be enjoyed now, but may be
matured further by cellaring, depending on individual
preference.
Ideal for further cellaring. This wine may well
be enjoyed now by some but we feel that the wine will
develop favourably under ideal cellaring conditions.
AMERICAN WHISKEY
1792 RIDGEMONT
RESERVE BARREL SELECT
KENTUCKY STRAIGHT BOURBON
(Barton Distilling)
TASTING NOTE: Nose: big, weighty: rye with
attitude. From the green tea of the VOB to the
seriously over-stewed stuff. In a herd of any 30
random bourbons, this one would stand out by
nose alone. Taste: puckering and mouthwatering,
the ryes go ballistic especially on the spice front.
With salivation levels on full blast it is sometimes
hard to pick out the more delicate custard-cream
and apple nuances. Finish: the oak kicks in at
the death with a shot of licorice and coffee. But
the ryes refuse to be downbeaten. … Fabulously
different and wholly adorable. Score: 92.5 (Jim
Murray, Whisky Bible, 2010)
IRISH WHISKEY
KILBEGGAN OUR FINEST BLEND
IRISH WHISKEY
This was Beppi Crosariol’s “Pick of the Week” for
March 12, 2010.
TASTING NOTE: There’s fine balance here
between notes of grain, fruit and spice. It’s almost
robust enough to be a good Scotch. (Beppi
Crosariol, The Globe and Mail, March 12, 2010)
657247 700 mL $33.95
SAKE
HAKKAISAN EIGHT PEAKS
TOKUBETSU JUNMAI SAKE
Japan
Awarded a Silver Medal at the 2010 US National
Sake Appraisal in Hawaii.
TASTING NOTE: Pleasant notes of marshmallows,
candy and fresh flowers on the nose and palate.
Dry and well-balanced, with great length. (VINTAGES
panel, Dec. 2010)
