CONO SUR VISIÓN SINGLE VINEYARD
GEWÜRZTRAMINER 2010
Las Colmenas, Casablanca Valley
TASTING NOTE: Pale straw colour leads to a very
attractive, youthful, varietally classic nose: red
grapefruit, sweet peach, rosewater, white pepper
and a touch of lychee. Dry, plenty of acidity to
go with the robust flavours and bring exceptional
balance. The finish is long and relatively intense.
Match it to pan-fried sea scallops or herbed fish.
CONO SUR VISIÓN SINGLE VINEYARD
RIESLING 2010
Quiltramán, Bío Bío Valley
TASTING NOTE: Youthful Riesling with a slight,
very attractive spritz. Features pear, yellow apple
and wet slate aromas. Dr y, with zippy acidity
coming in seductively on the mid-palate to give it
structure. Light to medium bodied with a fairly
lengthy finish. A fine palate-refresher between
courses, or a match for grilled white fish. (VINTAGES
panel, Dec. 2010)
ZILZIE MURRAY DARLING
REGIONAL COLLECTION
CHARDONNAY 2009
Murray Darling, Victoria
TASTING NOTE: Medium gold colour with
aromas of tropical fruit, lots of toast, banana, rich
butter and coconut cream pie. Dry and very
fresh with pretty fruit on the palate. A wonderfully
impactful Champagne where the oak is in a
perfect place – it complements all the other
elements rather than dominating them. Mediumfull
bodied with a medium-long, almost elegant
citrus/fruit/oak finish. Enjoy with butter-brushed
prawns or grilled rainbow trout with roasted
parsnips. (VINTAGES panel, Dec. 2010)
AUSTRALIA – RED WINE
ELDERTON SHIRAZ 2007
Barossa, South Australia
(Ashmead Family)
TASTING NOTE: The estate wines begin with the
dark crimson-colored 2007 Shiraz Elderton
Estate. Aromas of Asian spices, smoked meat,
lavender, and blueberry lead to a spicy, ripe,
flavorful Shiraz with a bit less depth and a bit
more structure than normal, likely due to the
challenging vintage. Nevertheless, it is a strong
effort that will flesh out over the next 2-3 years
and drink well through 2019. Drink: 2009-2019.
Score: 90 (Jay Miller, www.erobertparker.com,
Dec. 2009)
GEORGE WYNDHAM
FOUNDER’S RESERVE SHIRAZ 2007
Langhorne Creek, South Australia
(Wyndham Estate)
TASTING NOTE: This wine won a Gold Medal at
the 2010 Perth Royal Wine Show, and just gazing
into the depths of this opaque purple Shiraz gives
you a sense of the quality within. Lively black
fruit, coffee and minty notes on the nose are all
enthusiastically revisited on the palate. The firm
tannins and delicious spiciness add complexity to
an already wonderful wine. Try this gold medalist
with some grilled veggies or a beef-and-mushroom
pizza. (VINTAGES panel, April 2010)
