from <strong>the</strong> agency that has jurisdiction with identification. The medical <strong>of</strong>ficer will release <strong>the</strong><br />

remains to <strong>the</strong> MO for processing following completion <strong>of</strong> all medical actions. NOTE:<br />

Clothing and equipment removed from remains will not be destroyed without <strong>the</strong> Medical<br />

Officer’s coordination IAW AFI 34-242. Co-mingled masses <strong>of</strong> unidentified remains will not<br />

be apportioned to <strong>the</strong> known number <strong>of</strong> individuals who die in a common accident for release<br />

to <strong>the</strong> PADD as individually identified remains.<br />

5.2.9. Remains will not be classified as unidentifiable or unknown until an <strong>Air</strong> <strong>Force</strong><br />

identification specialist has made a complete review <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> case and processed <strong>the</strong> remains.<br />

5.2.10. After all S&R is complete, any team member who was involved in <strong>the</strong> effort shall<br />

report to <strong>the</strong> debriefing area for an out-brief at a time determined <strong>by</strong> <strong>the</strong> MO. In addition to<br />

<strong>the</strong> comments which <strong>the</strong> MO will make, a chaplain and a traumatic stress response team<br />

briefing will be given (IAW AFI 44-153, Traumatic Stress Response). Every team member<br />

should be thoroughly assured that help is available should he/she experience problems.
