AQD codes in the 950-999 series are used to modify 5100 billets <strong>and</strong> 510X, 653X <strong>and</strong> 753X <strong>officer</strong> designators when the billet requirements/<strong>officer</strong> qualifications pertain to civil<br />

engineering specialty.<br />

These AQD codes are assigned to <strong>officer</strong>s by PERS-4 <strong>and</strong> assigned to billets by N1.<br />

Officer is qualified through graduation from an approved<br />

engineering college, practical engineering experience, <strong>and</strong>/or<br />

successful completion of an examination <strong>and</strong> has received from the<br />

state registration board a certification of having successfully passed<br />

that portion of the professional examinations.<br />

Officer is qualified by reason of special knowledge of the<br />

mathematical <strong>and</strong> physical sciences <strong>and</strong> the principles <strong>and</strong> methods<br />

of engineering analysis <strong>and</strong> design acquired by professional<br />

education <strong>and</strong> practical experience. This qualification is attested by<br />

legal registration as a professional engineer in any of the fifty states,<br />

the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, <strong>and</strong> the Panama Canal<br />

Zone. The Officer is qualified to assume duties of facilities<br />

engineering billets within the Naval Shore Establishment.<br />

Officer is qualified by reason of special knowledge of architecture<br />

acquired by professional education <strong>and</strong> practical experience. This<br />

qualification is attested by registered architect as a professional<br />

engineer in any of the fifty states, the District of Columbia, Puerto<br />

Rico, Guam, <strong>and</strong> the Panama Canal Zone. The Officer is qualified<br />

to assume duties of facilities engineering billets within the Naval<br />

Shore Establishment.<br />

Officer who has achieved SCW designation through completing the<br />

formal program prescribed by OPNAVINST 1410. AQD will<br />

not be automatically awarded upon completion of a tour in a coded<br />

billet.<br />
