1. He appoints an Assistant Patrol Leader to serve in his absence. Before any<br />

<strong>Troop</strong> meeting that he cannot attend, he makes sure the Assistant Patrol Leader<br />

can lead the Patrol at the meeting.<br />

2. He attends and represents both himself and his Patrol at TLC meetings, making<br />

suggestions about the <strong>Troop</strong> meeting agenda and other <strong>Troop</strong> outings and<br />

activities.<br />

3. At <strong>Troop</strong> meetings he is in charge <strong>of</strong> gathering his Patrol members to start the<br />

meeting, leading the Patrol breakout session, and leading his Patrol in Patrol<br />

competitions or games. During Patrol meeting, he records scout attendance and<br />

uniform status. The PL is responsible for delivering this information to the<br />

Scribe in each meeting.<br />

4. On <strong>Troop</strong> outings (including summer <strong>Scout</strong> Camp) and service projects he<br />

helps the SPL and adult leader in insuring that the necessary jobs are done and<br />

the safety rules are followed.<br />

5. He helps his Patrol select a Patrol emblem and devise a Patrol yell.<br />

6. He keeps up-to-date on <strong>Troop</strong> activities, serving as a reliable source <strong>of</strong><br />

information for members <strong>of</strong> his Patrol.<br />

7. He keeps an active interest in the younger <strong><strong>Scout</strong>s</strong> in his Patrol, especially their<br />

preparation for <strong>Troop</strong> outings (including equipment, food, plans for sharing a<br />

tent with another <strong>Scout</strong>, etc).<br />

8. By the Tuesday before each <strong>Troop</strong> event, the PL obtains an accurate list <strong>of</strong><br />

members <strong>of</strong> his Patrol who will be participating and he calls the SPL with this<br />

information. The event reservations are closed the Tuesday before the event.<br />

<strong>Troop</strong> Guide<br />

As the leader <strong>of</strong> the New <strong>Scout</strong> Patrol, he performs all the duties <strong>of</strong> a Patrol Leader<br />

(See above):<br />

1. In addition to his role as a Patrol Leader, he will assist the Instructors in<br />

teaching Tenderfoot skills to all new <strong><strong>Scout</strong>s</strong> (except those passing the<br />

Tenderfoot requirements at Advancement Weekend) and passing the <strong><strong>Scout</strong>s</strong> on<br />

the Tenderfoot requirements.<br />

Scribe<br />

1. He works with each Patrol Leader to record <strong>Scout</strong> attendance taken during<br />

patrol meetings and he records the results <strong>of</strong> any inter-patrol competitions at<br />

<strong>Troop</strong> meetings. The scribe must distribute and collect the Patrol attendance<br />

reports during each meeting. If he cannot be present for a meeting, he arranges<br />
