Section C - Skill Level Proficiency Requirements<br />

9. Purpose. Skill level training requirements in this specialty are defined in terms of tasks and<br />

knowledge requirements. This section outlines the specialty qualification requirements for each<br />

skill level in broad, general terms and establishes the mandatory requirements for entry, award<br />

and retention of each skill level. The specific task and knowledge training requirements are<br />

identified in the STS at Part II, Section A of this CFETP.<br />

10. Specialty Qualification:<br />

10.1. Apprentice Level Training:<br />

10.1.1. Specialty Qualification. This information will be located in the official specialty<br />

description in AFECD, paragraph 3.<br />

10.1.1.1. Knowledge. Knowledge is mandatory of: electricity; principles of physics, mechanics,<br />

electronics, and ballistics applying to munitions launch, release, suspension, fusing, and arming<br />

systems, and aircraft gun systems; use of precision measuring tools and equipment; interpreting<br />

schematics and wiring diagrams; concepts and application of maintenance directives; nuclear and<br />

nonnuclear munitions loading and safety procedures; and proper handling, use, and disposal of<br />

hazardous waste and materials.<br />

10.1.1.2. Education. For entry into this specialty, completion of high school or General<br />

Education Development equivalency is mandatory. Also, completion of courses in mechanics or<br />

basic electronics is desirable.<br />

10.1.1.3. Training. Completion of a suffix specific basic aircraft armament systems course is<br />

mandatory for award of the 3 level Armament <strong>AFSC</strong>.<br />

10.1.1.4. Experience. N/A<br />

10.1.1.5. Other. Per the AFECD, the following are mandatory as indicated.<br />

10.1.1.5.1. For entry into this specialty: Normal color vision as defined in AFI 48-123,<br />

Medical Examination and Standards. Trainees must have a minimum score of 60 Mechanical or<br />

45 Electrical on their AFQT.<br />

10.1.1.5.2. For entry, award, and retention of these <strong>AFSC</strong>s: No record of emotional<br />

instability. Normal depth perception as defined in AFI 48-19.<br />

10.1.1.5.3. For award and retention the specialty requires routine access to Secret material<br />

or similar environment: For award and retention of <strong>AFSC</strong> <strong>2W1X1</strong>X, completion of a current<br />

National Agency Check, Local Agency Checks and Credit (NACLC) according to AFI 31-501,<br />

Personnel Security Program Management. Note: Award of the 3-skill level without a completed<br />

NACLC is authorized provided an interim NACLC has been granted according to AFI 31-501.<br />

10.1.2. Training Sources and Resources. Completion of one of the suffix specific basic<br />

armament systems courses satisfies the knowledge and training requirements for the award of the<br />
