Chamberlain’s
Chamberlain’s in
Birmingham undertook a
variety of promotions to
help raise money. In the
takeaway they did ‘Pick-a-
Port’ as supplied by the
Fishermen's Mission,
donating vouchers to be
spent in either the
restaurant or takeaway. In
the restaurant they put on a
special menu, (advertising

this a week in advance) with over 10 types of fish and seafood. They also
handed out donation envelopes in the restaurant with the customer bills,
allowing them to read about the Fishermen's Mission and make a
donation in the envelope. Customers who "dined in their wellies" in the
restaurant were offered a free starter or dessert.
They also had some special guests; Jo & Sparky who host the Friday drive
time show on local station Free Radio and a visit from Briar and Ken
Wilkinson of Drywite who came and dined in the restaurant to show their
support, making a very generous donation (pictured)
Overall they managed to raise £200 which was a great achievement for
the first year of supporting Fish Friday!
Frankie’s Fish & Chips
Frankies in the Shetland Islands are part of a large fishing community.
John Gold (Manager) and staff at Frankie’s continue to support the
Fishermen’s Mission charity throughout the year by having donation
envelopes on the tables and also the Mission spinner is in the takeaway
to entice customer’s loose change. On Fish Friday the Mission bunting
was flying at Frankie’s and staff wore their Fishermen’s Mission t-shirts
to work. Money was raised and donations were accepted all weekend

Once again, the fish frying industry showed its support for the Fishermen’s
Mission’s annual fundraising day. Here a just a few of the shops who went
the extra mile to support this worthy cause.

from customers. John Gold was delighted with the fund-raising event
which enables the Mission Staff to continue to provide a commitment
and service to fishing families in need throughout the UK.
After a very successful event last year, Frankie’s are hosting their 2nd
Charity Cycle Sportive in aid of the Fishermen’s Mission which this year
is on Sunday 2nd September – sponsor forms available at Frankie’s Fish
& Chips!
Towngate Fisheries
Towngate Fisheries in Idle, Bradford sold fish and chips for just £2.50
and donated £1 from each portion sold to the Fishermen's Mission. To
raise awareness of the
cause, the staff all wore
yellow wellies, yellow
aprons and yellow
fishermen's hats all day!
Despite heavy rain for
most of the day, the
shop was extremely
busy, doing two and a
half times the normal
volume of trade for a
Friday, raising a total of
£1123.23 including the
donations placed in the
collection bucket by customers and staff.
The Fishermen’s Mission would like to thank everyone who took part
in this year’s Fish Friday with particular mention to Drywite, Tesco
Fish counters and Young’s seafood. Also Finnieston’s in Glasgow,
North Norfolk District Council and the Fishermen’s Friends singers
for their event in Padstow.
