Classica Secunda 1985 – The Classic Precision Clock
The Classica Secunda 1985 model represents the evolution
of our successful precision 1935 model, 500 of which have
been manufactured in the last eighteen years.
This model represents the joining of the traditional art of
horology with timeless design. The Classica Secunda 1985
model is an example of exclusive wall art for the office,
conference rooms, entryways, and living rooms.
A total of three beveled glass panes allow a fascinating view
of the clock’s technology, and an additional window on top
allows light to illuminate the movement from above.
This clock is an extremely accurate timekeeper whose
maximum rate deviation is not more than one to two seconds
per month under optimal conditions.
To prevent larger rate deviations, which can be caused by
fluctuations in temperature and air pressure, an aneroid
barometric display has been added to the pendulum. Changes
in the Classica Secunda 1985’s Superinvar pendulum length
that are caused by temperature are compensated by a
precisely calculated, freely swinging compensation pipe.
A weight located to the side with an elegant guide pulley in
a jewel bearing makes a power reserve of 30 days possible.
All movement components such as plates, pillars, pallet
bridges and cocks, gear wheels, and chatons are milled
and turned in small numbers in our manufactory. Many of
the components are finished by hand and decorated with
gold-plating.
The precisely calculated shape of the gear wheel teeth and
the great number of ball or jewel bearings reduce wear to
a minimum and guarantee the lifespan of a Sattler precision
pendulum clock for generations.
The production of the case also illustrates the unique
fascination of this pendulum clock, manufactured with great
attention to detail. The application of thirteen layers of varnish
alone takes the case’s carpenter just about two weeks
and includes several polishing steps in between that are
performed by hand.
The winding crank, fine adjustment weights, and additional
accessories are hidden in a secret compartment in the bottom
of the case.
