Fine, Elegant Lines – Metrica – A Timelessly Beautiful Table Clock
Whether in a prestigious office or surrounded by valuable
paintings, the Metrica table or mantel clock is an excellent
time accessory for any space. The modern case featuring
metal inlays is the result of permanent development of existing
models and the use of contemporary materials. On the basis
of a gold-plated gear train, fully developed within the last
five years, Sattler’s clockmakers have realized a reliable,
low maintenance, and durable table clock movement in
Caliber 1385.

Because the energy saved in the mainspring continuously
decreases throughout the fifteen-day power reserve period,
the movement is outfitted with a mechanical constant
force mechanism. This subgroup comprises an extensively
calculated fusee, a fine cable, and the spring barrel. This
component subgroup is not usually included in conventional
movements for economic reasons.

A handmade, blued steel hand located in an additional
segment of the dial clearly displays the status of the
mainspring’s tension. The time, including the seconds and
the date, are also displayed on the silver-plated dial. The
movement not only works perfectly behind the scenes, it can
be seen through the glazed panels of the case. One’s view
automatically goes to the elegant gear wheels made in-house
at the Erwin Sattler manufactory, which have even been
gold-plated to protect them from oxidation. The wheels are
perched upon solid, hardened steel arbors with precisely milled
pivots. A clock outfitted in this way meets all the expectations
of the traditional art of clockmaking. It is classic, sober, and
unobtrusive, though it remains the highlight of any room.
