Troja 16 / Troja 16 Lunaris Troja 16 – The »Legendary« Precision Pendulum Clock Manufactured by Erwin Sattler
According to Greek legend, the city of Troy was tricked by
Greek warriors. They were able to enter the fortified city walls
undetected by hiding themselves in the belly of a wooden
horse, conquering Troy thanks to a clever deception.
The Troja (German for »Troy«) grandfather clock manufactured
by the Erwin Sattler manufactory possesses all the attributes of
a precision pendulum clock with a deviation of only one to
two seconds per month. Like its historical namesake, it does
contain a secret: a safe hidden in the base of the clock.
This safe possesses the stability and strength required by
German insurance companies to protect its valuable contents
thanks to heavy-duty bolts that can be fastened to a concrete
floor or wall. This is made possible by a double-walled steel
shell, an exceptionally solid door with quadruple bolts and an
electronic, recessed keypad lock. Naturally, Erwin Sattler
innovatively utilized the extra case depth that was created
thanks to the safe. Thus, sixteen remote-controlled,
extendable watch winders are stored in the back
of the case. Together with our technology partner
Beluwo ® , we have developed large new wristwatch
holders to accommodate very large
wristwatches. Every unit is outfitted with its own precision
motor and can be individually programmed using the
integrated keyboard with display or the USB interface.
With the aid of the remote control, you can extend the
lateral watchwinders, switch on the illumination for the clock
movement and unlock the door of the clockbase.
The precision clock itself is a remarkable timepiece as one
would expect from the Erwin Sattler manufactory. Made of
invar to compensate variations in temperature, the pendulum
at a stately length of one meter swings once every second in
an elegant and calming cadence. At the same time, the hand
on the barometric instrument located on the pendulum reveals
changes in the current air pressure.
The silver-plated dial allowing an unimpeded view of
the peaceful Graham escapement with its agate pallets
underscores the value of the lovingly hand-domed, blued
hands.
The case is available in black varnish with a walnut drawer
in the back wall. It can also be purchased completely in black.
