Sir Simon Rattle, Leonard Bernstein and
Riccardo Muti, Jaap van Zweden was
recently named Conductor of the Year for
2012. Now 52, Van Zweden was the
youngest ever leader of Amsterdam’s
world-famous Concertgebouw Orchestra
when he took the job in 1979 at the age
of 18. Currently Music Director of the
Dallas Symphony Orchestra and Chief
Conductor/Artistic Director of the Radio
Philharmonic Orchestra in the
Netherlands, Van Zweden has conducted
the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, the
London Philharmonic Orchestra and the
St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, to
name a few.
