Headmaster-program<br />
reveals record-breaking<br />
number of applicants<br />
for 2011<br />
A few days ago the deadline for applying to the<br />
headmasters study program was drawn. By<br />
then, 804 people had applied – over twice as<br />
many as there are seats.<br />

– This is a pleasant surprise, and a proof to the fact that increased<br />
competence is both needed and wanted in Norwegian Schools,<br />
says Solveig Hvidsten Dahl, President of the Norwegian Association<br />
of School Leaders.<br />
As late as last year, a survey proved that there is a leadership<br />
recruitment crisis in Norwegian schools. The survey showed that a<br />
headmaster’s position on average only has between one and four<br />
applicants. And in many cases, there are few properly qualifi ed<br />
applicants among these.<br />
