deLVe into Norway’s past at the Bergenhus fortress
– it’s the oldest and best-preserved castle in the
country. Check out King haakon’s hall, the largest
medieval building in Norway, which was once used for
weddings and royal banquets. And don’t miss the
rosenkrantz Tower – parts of it date back to the 13th
century. you can also explore the creepy dungeons.
Day 4 Wednesday
09:00 - 10:00 Hellesylt* - NORWAY
SoAK up the views of Sunnylvsfjord from the tiny
town of hellysylt. This pretty place is surrounded by
600 valleys, so you’ll have plenty of mountain scenery
to take pictures of. The town is also home to a
waterfall, which forms every spring from thawing
snow. When the sunlight catches the cascades at
the right angle, you’ll often see rainbows here.
11:00 - 18:00 Geiranger* - NORWAY
UNCoVer the secrets of how Norway’s fjords
were formed and hear real-life tales of the people
who live in the area. The Norwegian fjord Centre is
full of hands-on exhibitions showcasing the history
and heritage of the country’s natural landmarks.
There’s a little café, too, where you can look out
over the mountains as you eat.

BreAThe in the fresh air at the Briskdal Glacier.
This ice giant is part of the jostedal glacier icefield,
which is the largest glacier on the european
continent. It’s surrounded by mountains, lakes
and waterfalls and you’ll notice that the ice sheens
violet in the sun – this is because glaciers only
reflect blue light.

Flam* - NORWAY
BoArd a train at flam Station for a ride on
the steepest railway in the world. during your
20-kilometre journey you’ll be surrounded by
mountains that reach up to 1,400 metres into the sky.
you’ll pass waterfalls, including the rjoandefossen,
which cascades down a 140-metre sheer drop.
Plus, you’ll weave your way through a mountain
tunnel with a 180-degree hairpin bend.
