city of segesta is nestled among the mountains,<br />

the 5th century BC. it also boasts an amphitheatre<br />
that was built during the hellenistic age – locals still<br />
flock here each summer to watch performances.<br />

Naples - ITALY<br />
eXPLore the remains of the ancient roman city of<br />
Pompeii, a World heritage site and one of the most<br />
significant archaeological finds in the world. it’s set at<br />
the bottom of Mount Vesuvius, and was destroyed<br />
almost 2,000 years ago when the volcano erupted,<br />
completely covering it in pumice and ash. among the<br />
remains, you’ll see an amphitheatre, baths and a<br />
former swimming pool.<br />

Civitavecchia (for Rome) - ITALY<br />
TiCK off some of the most famous sights on earth<br />
in italy’s eternal City. Gaze up at the giant dome of<br />
the Pantheon, stare wide-eyed at Michelangelo’s<br />
masterpiece in the sistine Chapel, and rewind the<br />
clock at the Colosseum. Just make sure you toss<br />
a coin into the Trevi fountain before you go –<br />
it’s said to ensure your return to the city.<br />

eXPLore the villages of Corsica’s Balagne region,<br />
which is known for its fruit orchards and olive groves.<br />
one of the best places to start is picturesque Lumio,<br />
in ancient times it was a hotspot for sun-worshipping<br />
cults. Then there’s Cateri, with its charming<br />
12th-century chapel. sant antonino is worth a look,<br />
too – it’s one of the oldest villages in the country.<br />

Palamos - SPAIN<br />
MaKe your way to the pretty town of Tossa de Mar<br />
on the Costa Brava. it’s a favourite with artists and<br />
poets, and with its craggy mountains, pine-cloaked<br />
hills and pea-green valleys, it’s easy to see why.<br />
The whole place is overlooked by an ancient castle,<br />
and its cobbled streets are dotted with antique and<br />
craft shops. You’ll find a wide curve of sand here.<br />

Palma - MAJORCA<br />
hoP on board the Tren de soller and explore<br />
Majorca’s lesser-known side. This vintage electric<br />
train was built in the Twenties, and it will take you<br />
through the island’s almond and olive groves to the<br />
charming village of soller. Known for its ceramics,<br />
you can pick up a souvenir or two while you’re here.<br />
