On Friday, April 26th, the Class of 2014 had the honor to prepare
a farewell lunch for the Seniors to appreciate their hard work and
celebrate their legacy on the school at the Walsh Wardell Building. We
set as our main objective to give them a warm, comfortable, and pleasant
environment where they could enjoy themselves as a group. The lunch
was a mixture on the focus of a Rock & Roll theme and Galia’s golden era.
We were accompanied with the presence of coordinators and teachers
who were very supportive.
As guests were arriving, they took pictures in the photo booth with
Marilyn Monroe while Leonardo Santos and Guillermo Germade were
playing live music to set the Rock & Roll mood. Mónica Ruiz opened the
lunch with a heart-touching speech. Then, a video was dedicated to them
with pictures of Galia throughout their years in and outside of school.
After a prayer by Laura Marcial, we proceeded to raffle out the tables for
the buffet that was anxiously waiting to be served outside. Each number
read caused both a mini celebration by the chosen table and a cry by the
rest of the room. While everyone was eating, music, such as We All Live
in a Yellow Submarine by The Beatles, played in the
background.
Now it was dessert time! Our hard-working waiters
passed menus for guests to contemplate between
the mouth-watering brigadeiro, Nutella cheesecake,
majarete, brownie à la mode, dulce de coco, and Rock
and Roll decorated cupcakes.
After eating, we started an activity to involve seniors.
Volunteers had to choose a little paper out of a bowl
and answer questions such as “La que más duerme”, “La
tarea que nunca entregaste”, and “La mejor broma que
has hecho”. This brought a lot of laughter and secrets
were given away. Afterwards, another video was
presented. Now, teachers and other close friends were
expressing their wishes towards Galia. There were a lot
of “aw”s and glee in the air. The moment: tears were
being shed and hugs were being given as each member
of the Class of 2014 gave a personalized pin to every
Senior. Finally, guests were leaving with their golden
little boxes, their Galia discs, and a smile on their faces.
It was truly an unforgettable event.
Galia, make the best of your future. The Class of 2014
wishes you the very best of luck!
