make any remarks to defend yourself. (applause)”<br />

Rep . <strong>Helen</strong> <strong>Sommers</strong>: “As many of you are aware,<br />

I’m a woman of few words. But on this occasion, I<br />

am virtually speechless! I was invited to come over<br />

because you were discussing a resolution or that<br />

you would be speaking about my career, relationships<br />

and partnerships. So I thought, I’d like to go<br />

over and hear it.<br />

I must say that I am deeply touched – deeply<br />

touched by the things you said, the things you’d<br />

reminded me of, much of the history of the things<br />

we have done together in the past – which I treasure!<br />

<strong>An</strong>d, I just want to say I’m so grateful for this<br />

expression of friendship and working together, that<br />

I barely have the words to tell you just how deeply<br />

I am touched by your support, your friendship and<br />

the working relationship that we have! Thank you!”<br />
