226 Cniversity College, Galway.<br />
By the Irish Universities ,\ct the annual Parliamentar<br />
J grant to the College is £12,000. Subsequently<br />
the Treasury decided to ,increase that grant by £2,000,<br />
if, and so long as, the County Councils of Connacht<br />
and Clare made an annual grant of at least £1,500 to<br />
the College. In 1913 the County Councils of Connacht<br />
agreed to make this grant. At present the College<br />
receives annually £14,000 from the Treasury, and<br />
f: 1 ,500 from the County Councils of Connacht.<br />
Since the foundation of Cniversity College, Galway....,-<br />
11) The number of students on the roll is increasing<br />
yearly, and the number of Connacht students<br />
has more than trebled.<br />
1:2) The number of Professors, Lecturers, and<br />
.\ssistants in every faculty, but notably in the<br />
Faculty of Medicine, has been substantially<br />
increased.<br />
(0) Two uew Faculties have been established-the<br />
Faculties of Science and of Commerce.<br />
\4) Two new departments have been formed-the<br />
Departments of Education and of Agriculture.<br />
"(5) .\ new building has been erected at a cost of<br />
£6,000.<br />
(6) An additional Chemistry Laboratory has been<br />
provided, and the equipment of every Laboratory<br />
has been improved.<br />
(7) A building has been purchased for the College<br />
