n. Educational Theory.<br />
A detailed critical knowledge of the Educational<br />
Theory of Plato, and its application to<br />
the discussion of modern educational problems.<br />
In. History of Education.<br />
(a) The development of the Mediaeval Uni\'er<br />
sity Dystem, with special reference to the<br />
range of studies and teaching methods. ill<br />
the faculty of Arts.<br />
(b) The development of State Control of Education<br />
since the Industrial Revolution, with<br />
special reference to Ireland, Great Britain,<br />
France, and Germany.<br />
IV. Educational Practice.<br />
A detailed critical knowledge, theoretical<br />
and practical, of the methods applicable in<br />
one usual subject of class-teaching in all<br />
degrees of education. An advanced know·<br />
ledge of the subject, and of the history of<br />
its development and educational uses, will<br />
be required.<br />
Candidates must declare their choice of a special<br />
subject in this section when entering for the Examination.<br />
The Dissertation to be presented for the Degree of<br />
M.A. in Educational Science should lie within the<br />
departments of study specified for the Degree, or in<br />
James Hardiman Library, NUI Galway
