110rted as meritorious, and who 5hall have, during three
College Sessions, (of which two at least shall have been
attended in Queen's College, Galway*), attended such
courses of Lectures, and passed such Examinations as shall
be prescribed in that behalf by the Council of Queen's
College, Galway, and who shall have passed the necessary
Examinations within five years from the date of Matriculation,
and who shall have complied with such further
conditions as the Council shall impose, provided he shall not
have previously obtained a Senior Scholarship in the same
department in this or in either of the other Queen's Colleges.
* The tllird Sessioll above referred to, as in the :Statute
relating to Senior Scholarships. may have heen attended
by Candidates in any olle of the Queen's Colleges in
Ireland, or in a College of any University in the United
Kingdom.
Of these Scholarships one is awarded for proficiency
in each of the following departments :-
1. Greek and Latin, and Ancient
History.
2. Modern Langnages, and
Modern History.
3. lIIathematics.
4. Natural Philosophy.
5. Metaphysical and Economlc
Science.
G. Chemistry.
7. Natural History.
8. Law.

All Senior Scholars are require,\ to be in attendance
in the College Juring their period of office, and to assist
the Professors in auch ways and under such regulations as
the Council shall prescribe.
Senior Scholars, except in the Faculties of Law and
Medicine, who have not taken the Degree of B.A. or of
B.K, shall be required to atten,l the Courses prescribed
for the third year in Arts.

not be of more than six years' standing from date of Registration as a
Student in Medicine. The Senior Scholar shall assist the Professor
