VII. LIBRARY REGULATIONS.<br />

The Library is open from the 1st of August to the 1st of<br />

October, between the hours of 11 A.M. and 3 P.M., and from<br />

the 1st of October to the 1st of November, between the<br />

hour8 of 10 A.M. and 5 P.M. From 1st November to 1st<br />

March, between the hours of 10 A.M. and 4 P.M., and from 1st<br />

:Jlarch to 1st July, between the hours of 10 A.M. and 5 P.M.<br />

The Library IS closed (1) during the month of July;<br />

(2) on Coliege holidays; (3) for a period of five days<br />

in the Christmas and Easter recesses respectively.<br />

No Student is admitted to the Library except in full<br />

academical costume 1I0r until he has subscribed the following<br />

declaration :-<br />

\\' e the undersigned do hereby promise to the President and Council<br />

of ([ueen's College, Uaiway, that we will not mark, turn down the leaves<br />

of, or write on paper placed upon, or in any way whatsoever soil,<br />

deface, injure, or remove without permission, any book or document<br />

in the Library of said College. We also promise that we will not<br />

injure the Library furniture; that we will faithfully observe all tbe<br />

rules made for the regulation of the Library; and that we will acquaint<br />

the College Authorities with ally serious in,tallce of violation of the<br />

above rules which may come under our notice.<br />

1'\0 Student can borrow books from the Librarv until he<br />

has deposited the sum of £1 with the Bursar, which will be<br />

returned to him at the end of a 'ferm on the production<br />

of a Certificate from the Librarian stating that the books<br />

borrowed by him have been returned uninjured.<br />

No Student can have more than two volumes on loan<br />

from the Library at the same time.<br />

No Student can retain a volume borrowed from the<br />

Library more than one fortnight; but the borrower, on<br />

returning the book, may renew the loan, if the book has not<br />

been in the meantime applied for.<br />

Any Student, on receiving at any time a notice from<br />

the Librarian, must retnrlJ, within twenty-four hours, the<br />

books belonging to the Library in his possession.<br />

Any Student losing or injuring a book belonging to the<br />

Lit.rary must replace it by another copy of the same<br />

edition and of equal value, or pay such a sum of money as<br />

will enable the College to replace it.<br />

Persons resident in Galway other than Professors or<br />

Students may by permission of the Council or of thl') Lib-<br />

James Hardiman Library, NUI Galway
