CHAPTER lI.<br />
Oj the Powers oJ the C01porate Body.<br />
The Corporate Body of the College sllaU consist as<br />
aforesaid of the President and the Professors.<br />
The presence of not less than ten members shall be<br />
necessary to constitute a meeting for the transaction of<br />
business.<br />
The President or, in his absence, his Deputy, shall<br />
ex-officio be Chairman. In the absence of both the President<br />
and his Deputy from any meeting, the members<br />
present shall elect one from among their number to act<br />
as Chairman.<br />
The Corporate Body shall annually meet and elect<br />
two from among the Professors to be members of the<br />
College Council for the three ensuing years. Out-going<br />
members of Council may be re-elected.<br />
In the year] 863, the Corporate Body shall elect four<br />
other Professors to be members of the Council; two of<br />
them for the ensuing year, and the remaining two for<br />
the two ensuing years.<br />
In case any mem bel' of the College Council shall from<br />
illness or other cause be prevented from performing his<br />
duties, the President shall have power to declare the<br />
office vacant, and the Corporate Body shall thereupon<br />
proceed to the election of another Professor to supply<br />
the vacancy for the unexpired time of office.<br />
The Corporate Body shall so select the Professors<br />
whom they shall elect members of Council that the<br />
Council may constantly include one at least of the<br />
following Professors, that is to say-the Professor of<br />
Anatomy and Physiology, the Professor of Medicine, the<br />
Professor of Surgery, the Professor of Materia Medica,<br />
and the Professor of Midwifery.<br />
The President shall vote in the election of members<br />
of Council only in the event of an equality of votes. In<br />
the absence ofthe President, the Deputy of the President,<br />
or other Professor acting as Chairman, shall, in all<br />
cases, have a vote, but shall not have a second or casting<br />
vote.<br />
