insufficient throughput was on <strong>the</strong> “left-hand side” <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice. Overall, <strong>the</strong> throughputs were around 5~7 Mbps in <strong>the</strong> center <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice. The lower throughput area was large when AP was placed at position “R” ra<strong>the</strong>r than at position “J”. Figure 5.15 shows <strong>the</strong> results <strong>of</strong> distance, RSS and throughput when <strong>the</strong> AP was located at position “N-3M”. The average throughput was 10.085 Mbps (refer table C.10) on <strong>the</strong> “right-hand side” <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice. The average throughput was quite close to <strong>the</strong> estimated throughput (11 Mbps, refer table 5.1). Compared to o<strong>the</strong>r measurement results, <strong>the</strong> position “E-3M” is <strong>the</strong> best for AP placement to provide sufficient signal coverage and throughput to <strong>the</strong> “right-hand side” <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>of</strong>fice. - 74 -
The measurement results indicated that <strong>the</strong> throughput was decreasing along with low RSS and long distance. For example, in table B.6, <strong>the</strong> throughput was 9.973 Mbps (RSS: -51 dBm, distance: 6 meters) at measurement point “L”, <strong>the</strong> throughput <strong>of</strong> measurement point “E” was 7.836 Mbps (RSS: -60 dBm, distance 12.37 meters), and <strong>the</strong> throughput <strong>of</strong> measurement point “D” was 6.649 Mbps (RSS: -70 dBm, distance: 17.26 meters). In general, both RSS and distance are <strong>the</strong> key factors to determine throughput.
