The positi<strong>on</strong>s “I” and “L” had well balance throughputs for both sides, but <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> average<br />
throughputs (6.837 and 6.898 Mbps) were inadequate for both sides. Compared to <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
estimated throughput (11Mbps) <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> IEEE 802.11g, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> AP that was placed at<br />
positi<strong>on</strong>s “I” and “L” did not <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fer adequate throughput.<br />
In c<strong>on</strong>clusi<strong>on</strong>, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> measurement results revealed that multiple APs could provide better<br />
signal coverage and throughput than a single AP in this <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fice. The positi<strong>on</strong>s “A”, “G”,<br />
“E-3M”, “J”, “R” and “N-3M” were potential locati<strong>on</strong>s for AP placement in multiple AP<br />
scenarios. The detailed results <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> throughput analysis are presented in appendix C.<br />
5.2.3 Comments<br />
From extensive measurements and discussi<strong>on</strong>, some important c<strong>on</strong>clusi<strong>on</strong>s have been<br />
drawn. <strong>Fi</strong>rstly, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> impact <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> RSS <strong>on</strong> <strong>Wi</strong>-<strong>Fi</strong> link throughput is validated. The<br />
measurement results revealed that sufficient RSS does not guarantee sufficient<br />
throughput. WLAN throughput also depends <strong>on</strong> distance, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> locati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> AP, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
number <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> c<strong>on</strong>structi<strong>on</strong>s between <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> AP and <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> RX.<br />
A single AP could cover <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> entire <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fice, but throughput was insufficient in many<br />
locati<strong>on</strong>s. Fur<str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g>rmore, with changing AP positi<strong>on</strong>s, RSS and throughput were varying<br />
at <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> same time. When <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> AP was located at positi<strong>on</strong>s “A”, “G” and “E-3M”, signal<br />
coverage and throughput were acceptable <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> “left-hand side” <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fice. However,<br />
RSS and throughput were inadequate <strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> “right-hand side” <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g>fice.<br />
When <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> AP was located at positi<strong>on</strong>s “J”, “R” and “N-3M”, <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> results was opposite.<br />
The measurement results revealed that <str<strong>on</strong>g>the</str<strong>on</strong>g> locati<strong>on</strong> <str<strong>on</strong>g>of</str<strong>on</strong>g> AP would have a significant<br />
