If I have overlooked any claims to copyright, I sincerely
apologise. On the poems themselves, I have no
comment to offer. This is neither the time nor the place
for a serious discussion of the joke-evil and the dangers
of using comedy in place of tragedy. I leave the reader
to the simple pleasure of recognizing old acquaintances
and of grudgingly admitting new, and to the more
complex and perhaps greater pleasure of complaining
that I have not, after all, unearthed his own private
and unparalleled discovery.
