YOUR
QUESTIONS
ANSWERED
Macro options
Back in my film days, I had a
Canon bellows and macro lens for
my AE-1. Now that I’ve ventured
into digital, I would like to revisit
macro photography. I have a Sony
Alpha 700 and a Tamron 90mm
f/2.8 macro lens. Where will I find a
bellows for the A700? Jon Oakleaf
Via e-mail
Sony offers neither bellows nor
extension tubes for your Alpha—at
least, not yet. In the meantime,
look into the Novoflex Universal
Bellows ($365, street), or, if you
want autofocus and autoexposure,
the Novoflex Auto Bellows for the
Minolta AF system ($994, street).
To attach camera and lens to the
bellows, the Universal bellows will
require Minolta adapters (made
by Novoflex), which start at about
$120 (street) each.
Hyper what?
I’m confused about hyperfocal
distance. What is it, and when
should I use it? Dave Pidcock
