Renault Encore or Alliance on the track in 1984 is sponsored by an AMC
Renault dealer who sells car and parts at cost to his driver and pays all entry
. In return he receives a media kit and pit passes . shares in Renault s
fees
hospitality at the track . and receives an additional parts discount from AMC .
The dealership s name is painted on the rear quarter panels of each car and
drivers are encouraged to work closely with their sponsors to help dealers
take full promotional advantage of the sponsorship arrangement .

This year marks the return of one of the most interesting and innovative
racing series in automotive history as the new Budweiser International Race
of Champions (IROCI makes a comeback with four races to be telecast live
this summer on the CBS Television Network .
Michigan International Speedway has been chosen to host two of the
prestigious four-race tries' events . the opener on June 16 and the closing
event on Aug. 11 .
The series, if you didn't catch it during its artistically successful years from
1974-80, matches the best race drivers in identically prepared Chevrolet
IROC Z 28 Camaro race cars head-to-head in one-hour races .
Series' races in 1984, in addition to the two MIS events, include a stop at
Alabama International Motor Speedway in Talladega. Ala .. on July 28 ; and a
race at Burke Lakefront Airport in Cleveland on July 7 .
Behind the sponsorship backing of Budweiser, Chevrolet, Goodyear and
Master Mechanic Tools, the new IROC will feature 12 top drivers vying for a
total purse of $465.000, the largest in IROC history . The winner will receive
$150,000 of the purse based on his points total after the four races .
The 12 identically prepared Chevy Camaros are prepared by master
mechanic Jay Signore in his race shop in Tinton Falls. N .J. Signore is a
former mechanic with the Roger Penske Racing organization . He was also a
