Water inlet and oxygen outlet holes were first drilled vertically and then connected<br />

diagonally to the empty part of the anode side to feed <strong>water</strong> and withdraw the generated<br />

oxygen with some unreacted <strong>water</strong> <strong>from</strong> the gas diffusion layer. Hydrogen output stream<br />

coming <strong>from</strong> cathode side and bypassed the anode zone through a hole, A.<br />

Empty base design was used again for the cathode side to uniformly counterbalance<br />

the pressure on GDL. The <strong>hydrogen</strong> generation on the cathode catalyst surface cause a<br />

pressure increment which leads the gas to diagonally drilled hole on the graphite. Figure<br />

3.3 shows the proposed cathode layer of the cell.<br />
