I find that Terry Wogan can waffle on a little bit too long as far as I’m concerned.
I think a lot of stations basically you have disc jockeys going on there that have not a
clue what they are on about. Because it is like you have got someone playing 70s, 80s and…he was in his nappies at the time.
They have got to love the music.
Keeping it local
Respondents
were keen on making sure that the station is local and represents
Manchester’s
music tastes along with having Mancunian personalities.
Somebody who knows and can tell you what is going on in Manchester.
I think somebody who is local and knows the area.
More local, Manchester based artists
would be well received by this audience.
You have got to have some Manchester.
Some Manchester stuff like Inspiral Carpets.
Non-stop
music
This is something respondents’ spontaneously said they would like to hear more of on
the radio. There aren’t enough stations providing a non-stop music hour or evening
where it is all about the music and nothing else.
I was just thinking they used to have a non-stop hour on the radio, on Radio 1 and
various stations…which is a good thing but they don’t do enough of it.
Utilities
These are considered to be sufficiently serviced in the market, however it is understood
that they are important to listeners.
Mundane things like daily news and travel and locals news is important as well.
They
are happy to keep these necessities short and sweet, just a few minutes every hour
or so.
Headlines…I don’t need to know anything else.
Local weather…it can just be a line can’t it?
With
sport, as long as the listeners know what is happening it doesn’t need to be indepth.
Sports deadlines, results, any transfer news like that.
