NBA CARES
NBA Cares is the league's global social responsibility program that builds on the NBA’s long tradition of
addressing important social issues. The NBA and its teams and players support a wide range of initiatives,
partners, and programs that strive to positively impact children and families around the world.
As part of the league’s mission to demonstrate leadership in social responsibility, NBA Cares reaches
communities using philanthropy, hands-on service, and creating legacy projects. Since the program’s
October 2005 launch, the league, its players, and its teams have donated more than $140 million to
charity, provided more than 1.1 million hours of hands-on service, and created more than 500 places
where kids and families can live, learn, or play.
NBA Cares reaches millions of children and adults through specialized programs – including NBA FIT and
Basketball without Borders – that support education, youth and family development, and health and
wellness. The league and its teams and players also promote environmental awareness and sustainability
through NBA Green. During annual high-profile league events, including NBA All-Star, The Finals, and
international preseason games, NBA Cares initiates community outreach efforts to tap into the power of
sport for positive social change.
Thanks to strong partnerships with internationally recognized community organizations – including
KaBOOM!, Special Olympics, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, UNICEF, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, the
Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis, and the UN Foundation – NBA Cares
makes a positive and lasting impact in communities around the world.
