Lopez # 15
Lopez
Center 7-0 255 Current NBA Season: 3
Born: 4/1/88, Fresno, CA College: Stanford
Acquired: Selected with the 15th pick (first round) of the
2008 NBA Draft
Status: Signed through 2010-11; Team Option: 2011-12
2009-10
In his second NBA season, both with the Suns, blossomed after becoming the club’s starting center midway through
the season… In his sophomore season, nearly doubled his averages from his rookie campaign, averaging a careerhigh
8.4 points, career-high 4.9 rebounds, career-high 1.0 blocks and a career-best 19.3 minutes in 51 games,
including a career-high 31 starts… Shot a career-high 58.8 percent from the field (171-of-291), which would have
ranked third in the NBA if he reached statistical minimum to qualify (min. 300 FGM)… Inserted into the starting
lineup on Jan. 18 at Memphis and subsequently averaged 11.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 24.5 minutes
in 31 games… The Suns compiled a 22-9 (.710) record in his starts… Scored in double figures in 19 of 31 starts
after entering the season with three double-digit scoring efforts as a rookie… In just his 29th game of the season
on Feb. 1, surpassed his scoring total from his entire rookie season… Scored in double figures in four-straight
games three different times (Jan. 15-20, Jan. 31-Feb. 5, Feb. 16-Feb. 21) after entering the season with three
career double-digit scoring efforts… Tallied the first two 20-point efforts of his career (Jan. 20, Feb. 26), including
a career-high 30 points vs. LA Clippers Feb. 26… That game was Lopez’s first career 20-point, 10-rebound game
and first 30-point, 10-rebound outing… The Suns were 12-2 when Lopez scored in double figures in the same
game that Amar’e Stoudemire reached 20 or more… Registered four double-doubles, the first four of his career,
all of which came after the All-Star break… Now owns five career double-digit rebound efforts, four of which came
in 2009-10, including a career-high 12 boards Feb. 26 vs. LA Clippers… Transformed the Suns rebounding while
a starter, as the Suns owned +4.8 advantage on the boards with him… Phoenix won or tied the rebounding battle
in 24 of 31 games with him, something the club did 22 times in 51 games otherwise… Blocked a career-high and
Suns season-high six shots Jan. 15 at Atlanta… Unfortunately, season was book-ended with injuries… After a
strong training camp, suffered a broken fifth metatarsal in his left foot in the team’s camp-ending intrasquad
scrimmage and underwent surgery that made him inactive for the season’s first 15 games (season debut came Nov.
27 at Minnesota)… Missed the season’s final 10 games (March 28-April 14) due to a back injury (8-2).
