GASTRIC ADENOCARCINOMA
Pathology. IV. Carcinoma, diffuse type
* cell cohesion absent, with individual cells
infiltrating and thickening stomach wall without
forming a discrete mass;
- more often in younger pts, develops
throughout stomach, including cardias → loss of
distensibility of gastric wall (“linitis plastica” or
"leather bottle" appearance), with a far more
ominous prognosis
