Chapter 3: Configuration <strong>and</strong> <strong>Operation</strong><br />

Four frame synchronized outputs of the input video <strong>and</strong> four scaled<br />

outputs are available in this mode. The frame synchronizer <strong>and</strong> the<br />

scalar processor are on separate paths. This makes it possible for you to<br />

configure the XHD6801+ as an independent four-output frame<br />

synchronizer <strong>and</strong> a four-output up/cross/downconverter. The following<br />

special features <strong>and</strong> limitations apply to this video processing mode:<br />

• The input video st<strong>and</strong>ard control for the frame synchronizer in<br />

effect also controls the output video st<strong>and</strong>ard of the frame<br />

synchronizer.<br />

• The output video st<strong>and</strong>ard of the scalar is selectable through the<br />

scalar output video st<strong>and</strong>ard control (Video > Output > Output<br />

Video St<strong>and</strong>ard Select). However, the video format of the frame<br />

synchronizer outputs is controlled by the frame synchronizer input<br />

video st<strong>and</strong>ard control.<br />

• Two independent sets of horizontal <strong>and</strong> vertical phasing controls<br />

are available to both video frame synchronizer <strong>and</strong> scalar processor<br />

(Video > Processing > Synchronizer). This makes it possible for<br />

you to adjust the phasing of the frame-synchronized outputs <strong>and</strong> the<br />

scalar outputs independently with respect to the reference.<br />

• The LOV parameter (Video > Output > Primary LOV Mode)<br />

controls the behavior of both the frame synchronizer outputs <strong>and</strong><br />

the scalar processor outputs.<br />

• Since the scalar processor resides on a path different than the frame<br />

synchronizer, the frame delay induced by the frame synchronizer<br />

will not be added to the scalar processing path <strong>and</strong> therefore the<br />

maximum frame delay through the scalar processing path is limited<br />

to two frames (the amount of propagation delay through the scalar<br />

processor). This setting is available in Audio > Other> I/O Delay<br />

Configuration. Also, there are some problems on the scalar<br />

processor when h<strong>and</strong>ling “dirty” video input. Without the frame<br />

synchronizer acting as a filter at the scalar video input, the scalar<br />

outputs may not be perfectly clean when there are glitches at the<br />

input video (for example, when the video format is changed).<br />
