Information You Need to Know Registration for Distance Education: BCC offers many televised and online courses. You may register for these classes on the Web at any time through the third day of the quarter. If you need a hard copy registration form, call (425) 564-2438. See page 42 for Distance Education requirements and fees. The Waiting List Feature: All full courses are using the waitlist process. This feature offers students a fair and consistent method of being enrolled in a full class if openings occur. If a class with the waiting list option is full, you can choose to be put on the waiting list. It is possible to be enrolled in the class when a space becomes available, through the third day of the quarter. You can add your name to a waiting list on the Web, or in person at the Registration Office. If you decide you no longer want to be on the waiting list for a class, return to Web registration to check your wait list status, or come into the Registration Office to have your name removed from the waiting list. Please check your schedule daily to find out if you have been enrolled into the class, and to be informed of your tuition and fees. If you register into another section of the same class you are waitlisted for, you will be dropped from the waitlisted section. If you have not been registered via the waiting list process by the first day of classes, go to the class on the first day for further instructions. 5. Payment Tuition and fees for Fall quarter are due by August 16. Registration on or after August 16 requires payment within seven calendar days from the student’s first date of registration OR by the first day of the quarter, whichever comes first. If you register on or after the first day of the quarter, tuition & fees are due immediately. If you register on or after the fourth day of the quarter, you must obtain a permission-to-enroll card. If you register on or after October 2, a $112.95 lateregistration fee will be charged for each course in addition to the regular tuition and fees. You are responsible for learning the exact amount of tuition and fees due. You can find this information: ■ on the Web at www.bcc.ctc.edu ■ at a kiosk on the first floor of the Student Services Building or the Campus Information Center (C106 in the Student Union) ■ in person at the Student Service Center You may pay your tuition and fees by VISA or MasterCard online or at the cashier’s office in the Student Services Building. You may pay by check through the mail, or by check or cash at the cashier’s office. You are responsible for verifying that payment has been made; for example, if you are receiving financial aid that comes directly to the college. Drop for Non-Payment: Non-payment of tuition and course-related fees (including returned checks and/or credit cards) may result in the student being withdrawn from classes. (BCC Policy 6121). A $16.90 withdrawal fee will be charged if you have ever been dropped for non-payment in the past. Returned checks and/or credit card charges are assessed a fee of $28.20. Admission to or registration for classes with the college, conferring of degrees, and issuance of academic transcripts may be withheld for failure to meet financial obligations to the college and may result in the account being sent to a collection service (BCC Policy 5150). All collection fees are the responsibility of the check/credit card writer and/or the student. If a student writes three checks (including third-party checks) which are returned, his/her privilege of check-writing will be denied. Technology Fee: The technology fee ensures that all credit students have access to computers and related technology in a quality learning environment. The fee is $3.50 per credit, to a maximum of $35. E-mail accounts are available for credit students after the first day of the quarter in the Open Lab, room N250. A BCC student ID card may be required for admittance into the Open Lab. To obtain a student ID card please go to the Business Center in the Student Union Building, C106. The Business Center hours are Monday through Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. to noon. For more information, see the Computing Services website, http://cs.bcc.ctc.edu. Other Fees: Certain classes require fees for laboratory use, licensing, Internet service provider, etc. These fees are identified in the class listing. Tuition & fee waivers generally do not apply. Fees for Distance Education and Self-Supporting Programs: The cost of each Distance Education class includes a licensing fee. Certain BCC programs are self-supporting— that is, they receive no state funding. They have their own fee structures and do not grant tuition and fee waivers. In these programs you pay the full fee regardless of your residency status. Check with the program for details. Transcript Fee Official transcripts cost $5.27 each. For instructions on ordering transcripts, call (425) 564-2245 or go to the website at www.bcc.ctc. edu/enrollment/records/. Refunds for Withdrawing or Dropping If you withdraw from the college or drop classes, you may be eligible for a refund. The college begins to process refunds after the third day of classes. A $7.90 processing fee is deducted from the refund amount. The amount refunded is based on your withdrawal or drop date for courses that begin the first week of the quarter. See calendar (p. 5) for the last days for 100% and 50% refunds. Classes with alternate start and end dates will be governed by a different refund policy. Please contact enrollment services. If the college drops you from classes for disciplinary reasons you will not be eligible for a refund. Some fees are identified as non-refundable in the class listings. Self-supporting programs may have different refund policies. Contact the program office for details. Refunds under $25 will not be processed but will be applied to the next academic quarter. Residency Your Washington State residency status determines your basic tuition for most college credit classes. If you have questions about eligibility requirements for residency for tuition purposes, please contact the residency office at (425) 564-4143 or (425) 564-2205. Information is also available online at www.bcc.ctc.edu/enrollment/ admissions/eligibility/. Note: Residency status affects tuition & fees for state-supported classes only. Self-supporting programs charge the same amounts for residents and non-residents. Grades Official grades are available approximately one week after the quarter ends. There are several ways to learn your grades: ■ BCC website: www.bcc.ctc.edu; ■ Kiosk in the Student Services Building or the Campus Information Center; ■ Mail: leave a self-addressed stamped envelope at the Student Service Center, with your Student ID number written inside the flap; ■ In person at the Student Service Center. www.bellevuecollege.edu Final Exams The final examination shall make up no more than 33% of your grade. Information You Need to Know State Support for Community & Technical College Students The Washington legislature wants students to know how much the state contributes to the cost of their instruction at community and technical colleges (RCW 28B.10.044). The following chart shows that support averaged statewide for academic year 2004-05. On average statewide, Washington State supports 67% of the cost of instructing a full-time student at a community or technical college.
