Getting to BCC BCC encourages carpooling and alternative transportation. Students who drive alone are advised to allow extra time to locate a parking spot, particularly during the first few weeks of a quarter. Bus Passes Several Metro bus lines serve the BCC main campus or the nearby Eastgate park-and-ride lot. Students are eligible for bus passes at a discount; come to Cashiering in the Student Services Building. Parking & Traffic Rules Based on WAC 132H-116. For more complete information about parking and traffic rules at BCC, contact Public Safety at (425) 564-2400. Parking Permits BCC students who have paid tuition and comprehensive fees are entitled to parking permits for their vehicles. Student parking permits are available from the Cashier’s Office (B126) or the Public Safety Office (K100). Parking permits are required for parking 6:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. General Parking Rules Student daytime parking is limited to areas designated Student Parking. Staff/faculty daytime parking is limited to areas designated Employee Parking. Parking after 3:00 p.m. for students, staff, and faculty is available in all designated parking areas with the exceptions of parking spaces for the disabled, the college motor pool, and specifically signed reserved areas. Students may not park in employee lots with signage stating “No Student Parking Anytime Mon – Fri.” Park one vehicle to a space, between a set of white lines. No one may park at any time in roadways, fire lanes, bus zones, loading zones, service driveways; on sidewalks; or in the landscaping. No one may park in a reserved space without the appropriate permit or authorization. Students & Staff with Disabilities You may park in a space reserved for the disabled only if your vehicle displays a valid “Disabled Persons Parking Identification Placard” issued by the state of Washington. Disabled parking is available in most parking lots and in C-7 on the west side of campus. Visitors Visitors may park in Lot 4B, or in the short-term parking stalls around campus. Carpools The first floor of the student parking garage is reserved for student carpools of 3 or more people. Carpool permits are available from the Public Safety Office and must be displayed on the dashboard of the carpool’s vehicle. Blocking the Roadway Waiting for a space to open up can create gridlock for everyone. Please come a little earlier or walk a little farther. Violators may be cited and their vehicles may be booted or towed. Speed Limit The speed limit on campus is 20 miles per hour unless driving conditions require a slower speed. Pedestrians Getting to BCC Bellevue Community College assumes no liability for thefts or damage to vehicles parked or operated on campus. For your own protection, remove valuables and lock your vehicle. Pedestrians have the right of way at all times except for emergency vehicles using lights, sirens, etc. Citations and Appeals Fines for violations range from $10 to $100. You may be ticketed for parking without a permit, parking in an unauthorized area, blocking a roadway, speeding, etc. If you do not pay the fine listed on the ticket, the college may delay your registration, place a hold on your transcripts or financial aid, or impound (tow away) your vehicle. If you wish to appeal your ticket fill out a citation appeal form in the Public Safety Office (K100).
