Axle Housing<br />
Install New Axle Housing Breather - (Metal and Plastic)<br />
<strong>Spicer</strong> uses an axle housing breather that consists of a fitting,<br />
hose, and clamp assembly. This breather design has improved<br />
resistance to water ingestion, and clogging caused by dirt,<br />
ice or snow buildup around the base of the breather.<br />
See installation instructions below (all views from rear).<br />
Procedure -<br />
1. Install fitting in breather hole.<br />
2. Tighten fitting finger tight.<br />
3. Using a 3/4” wrench:<br />
Metal only: Rotate the fitting at least 1/2 turn until nipple<br />
points to rear.<br />
Plastic only: Tighten until one thread is showing.<br />
4. Insert hose onto fitting, long end down.<br />
5. Push hose firmly against fitting. Rotate hose to point<br />
down.<br />
