BAE SYSTEMS PLC
ROF BISHOPTON
Traffic Management Plan
24 th October 2010
This will allow all private and light commercial vehicles to remain within the
“clean” zone outwith the security line and thus avoid the need for cleaning of
these vehicles prior to leaving site.
Generally BAE Systems and associated works contractors will provide a range
of dedicated on site vehicles for use within the main site only. This range will
include:-
4WD Pickups / Station Wagon’s
8 wheel tippers
Light commercial vans / Pickups
Crew buses
Hiabs
Agricultural Tractors & Trailers
Articulated Dump Trucks (Moxy’s)
360 0 excavators
Dozers & Scrapers
Front loaders
It is envisaged that this onsite fleet is sufficient to undertake the works, manage
deliveries and provide personnel transfer between the Reception Centre and
the main site compound. Provision will be enhanced as required to suit usage
demand during the entire works programme.
Any vehicle transiting between main site remediation / construction zones and
through security to the public highway is required to first pass through a
wheelwash facility. This process will be managed by the logistics contractor by
means of filter lane provision to direct vehicles through the wheelwash as a
default movement.
All vehicles carrying bulk loose material i.e. tippers etc. will require automatic
load covers to be deployed prior to leaving the point of loading and transiting
the site to the public road network.
These vehicles will be held at outbound security for weighing, checking of
transit documentation and confirmation that wheels are clean and loads have
been covered prior to leaving site.
Large Commercial vehicles will largely be involved in the following movements
Delivery of plant and equipment at the outset of the project
Delivery of bulk consumables associated with earthworks and landfill
construction
Delivery of materials associated with the construction of the Southern
Access Road (south)
Removal from site of waste materials for recycling e.g. metals from
demolition
Removal from site of surplus clean material to market i.e. surplus hardcore,
topsoil’s or other valuable waste.
Relocation of limited useable material from the main site to SAR (North
Sector)
Relocation of limited useable material from the main site to the M8 Junction
