7.3.13. rights<br />
Informati<strong>on</strong> about rights held in and over the resource.<br />
Typically, rights will c<strong>on</strong>tain a rights management statement for the resource, or<br />
reference a service providing such informati<strong>on</strong>. Rights informati<strong>on</strong> often encompasses<br />
Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), Copyright, and other property rights. The rights<br />
element is informative <strong>on</strong>ly. Legal rights and penalties for violati<strong>on</strong> of those rights vary<br />
from jurisdicti<strong>on</strong> to jurisdicti<strong>on</strong>. Reuse of any resource should be d<strong>on</strong>e <strong>on</strong>ly after<br />
obtaining the necessary rights and permissi<strong>on</strong>s or ascertaining that n<strong>on</strong>e is required.<br />

Typically, subject will be expressed as keywords, key phrases or classificati<strong>on</strong> codes that<br />
describe a topic of the resource. Recommended best practice is to select a value from a<br />
c<strong>on</strong>trolled vocabulary or formal classificati<strong>on</strong> scheme.<br />

The type attribute <strong>on</strong> subject allows the user to specify what classificati<strong>on</strong> system the<br />
subject entered can be found.<br />

Means that the subject "Fathers of the Church" is a subject found in the listing of subjects<br />
maintained by the American Theological Libraries Associati<strong>on</strong> (ATLA). To assist users,<br />
an admittedly partial list of the more well known subject classificati<strong>on</strong> systems have been<br />
