The annotateType attribute, which is available <strong>on</strong> all c<strong>on</strong>tent elements, is to be used<br />
al<strong>on</strong>g with the annotateRef attribute, to indicate the type of annotati<strong>on</strong> is being made to<br />
another work or porti<strong>on</strong> of another work. This sort of reference can point to anything that<br />
can be pointed to using an osisRef so the annotati<strong>on</strong> about a word, phrase, verse, chapter<br />
or larger porti<strong>on</strong> of text.<br />
These values characterize the annotati<strong>on</strong>, not the work that is being annotated. They will<br />
be particularly helpful in systems where annotati<strong>on</strong>s of a particular type, rebuttal for<br />
example, <str<strong>on</strong>g>are</str<strong>on</strong>g> being sought for a particular work.<br />
If the type of annotati<strong>on</strong> you <str<strong>on</strong>g>are</str<strong>on</strong>g> making does not appear in this list, use the <str<strong>on</strong>g>OSIS</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
attribute extensi<strong>on</strong>, that is, "x-" in fr<strong>on</strong>t of your attribute value.<br />

annotateRef attribute.<br />
• expositi<strong>on</strong> A development of the meaning of the reference given by the<br />
annotateRef attribute..<br />

• outline An outline of the reference given by the annotateRef attribute..<br />
• rebuttal A rebuttal of <strong>on</strong>e or more points in the reference given by the<br />
annotateRef attribute..<br />
• serm<strong>on</strong> A serm<strong>on</strong> based <strong>on</strong> the reference given by the annotateRef attribute.<br />
• studyGuide A studyguide <strong>on</strong> the reference given by the annotateRef attribute.<br />
• translati<strong>on</strong> A translati<strong>on</strong> of the reference given by the annotateRef attribute.<br />
20.2.2. calendar<br />
The standard calendar varies by historical time period as well as culture. We have not<br />
attempted to list all the possible calendars that might be used in <str<strong>on</strong>g>OSIS</str<strong>on</strong>g> documents, but<br />
provide the following starter set. Suggesti<strong>on</strong>s of other calendars with references to<br />
documentati<strong>on</strong> would be greatly appreciated.<br />
For cases where the required calendar is not <strong>on</strong>e of the following values, please use the<br />
<str<strong>on</strong>g>OSIS</str<strong>on</strong>g> attribute extensi<strong>on</strong> mechanism, "x-" in fr<strong>on</strong>t of the name of your calendar.<br />
