E.6. Sexual Assault<br />
Definition: A sexual assault is any crime of a sexual nature.<br />
Alert Signal: None<br />
Principal Response<br />
Contact the district <strong>Safe</strong>ty Director <strong>and</strong> SRO or, if unable to immediately access,<br />
call 911.<br />
Attempt to dissuade the victim from washing, cleaning up or use of the restroom<br />
if possible.<br />
Attempt to provide the victim with privacy.<br />
Secure the crime scene.<br />
Contact the parent or legal guardian.<br />
Instruct staff not to use the victim’s name on walkie-talkies <strong>and</strong> not to release the<br />
victim’s identity to anyone other than law enforcement officials.<br />
Do not attempt to conduct an investigation, question victims, witnesses or<br />
suspects <strong>and</strong> do not disturb any potential physical evidence.<br />
Keep reported victim(s), suspect(s) <strong>and</strong> witnesses separated.<br />
Assist public safety officials as requested.<br />
Notify the Superintendent’s office.<br />
Implement media protocol, if needed.<br />

Notify Principal.<br />
