Notify Superintendent’s office.<br />
After tremors have completely stopped, evacuate all buildings. Take Emergency<br />
Evacuation Kit.<br />
Determine if all students <strong>and</strong> staff are accounted for.<br />
Monitor your local broadcast station.<br />
Consult with emergency management <strong>and</strong> public safety officials regarding the<br />
structural integrity of the facility prior to reentering it.<br />
In coordination with the Superintendent, determine if the Family Reunification<br />
Protocol should be implemented.<br />
Staff Response<br />
If indoors, advise all people to seek cover under sturdy furniture or against a wall<br />
near the center of the building <strong>and</strong> away from glass.<br />
If outdoors, advise all people to move away from buildings, gas, electrical lines or<br />
anything that might fall.<br />
Do not allow the use of open flames such as matches or c<strong>and</strong>les due to possible<br />
gas leaks in the area.<br />
After tremors have completely stopped, evacuate all buildings. Do not reenter.<br />
Take roll. Report any missing people in your group to the principal or designee.<br />
Prepare for aftershocks.<br />
G.4 Fire<br />
Alert Signal: Fire alarm or announcement over the public address system (PA).<br />
Principal Response<br />
Make sure that the alarm has been activated as soon as notification is received.<br />
Do not wait to verify that a fire is actually occurring before activating alarm.<br />
Call 911 or local fire department.<br />
To the extent that it is safe for you to do so, ensure that all classrooms, rest<br />
rooms, cafeteria <strong>and</strong> other rooms have been evacuated.<br />
Take the emergency evacuation kit <strong>and</strong> evacuate to designated assembly areas.<br />
Notify the <strong>Safe</strong>ty Director.<br />
Notify the Superintendent’s office.<br />
Determine if all students <strong>and</strong> staff are accounted for.<br />
Provide fire service personnel with master keys <strong>and</strong> current information.<br />
Implement Injury or Illness Protocol, if needed.<br />
In coordination with the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent, determine if<br />
the Family Reunification Protocol should be implemented.<br />
Document all property damage <strong>and</strong> property losses.<br />
